George and Julia's Vegan Underground

Remembering influential vegans

It’s sad to report that one of the most influential hip-hop lyricist, Adam Yauch (47), has passed. He was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2009, and under the guidance of Tibetan doctors he became vegan (source TMZ).

Although George and I didn’t know him personally, the rhymes he produced have been candy to our ears for several years. There’s very few artists that we overlap with, but the Beastie Boys is a group we both can boogie down to. When George was a young pup in the 80’s he was Fighting for his right (to party) and contemplating about Brass Monkey (that funky monkey), and when I was growing up in the 90’s I was experiencing the exciting rifts of Sabotage and worshipping Hello Nasty. It’s a sad day for Brooklyn.

Here’s my favorite Beastie Boys song.
