Juiced Up Thursday

It’s another installment of Juiced Up Thursday! What’s lingering in the fridge and needs to be juiced? Well it looks like there’s Carrots, Celery, Apples, and a Lemon. The Kale is from the garden. Super fresh, and no chemicals sprayed on it whatsoever.

George would appreciate this juice. Mostly vegetables.

This is a standard juice. Maybe more Kale than what you’d get at a local Juice Bar. But usually carrots and celery make up a base of a juice because those are cheap to purchase in bulk. Therefore I shall name this juice The Standard Mix. The nice thing about this is that the majority of this juice is vegetables, which means its lower in sugar. Granted carrots are “considered” pretty dense in sugar, but the reality of it is they are indeed a vegetable. So what’s the calculations?

  • 5 Carrots
  • 5 stalks of Celery
  • 8-10 stalks of Kale
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Lemon

Pretty simplistic don’t you think? If Kale doesn’t please your taste buds, the queen of green can be swapped out for Spinach or Swiss Chard. I was very pleased with how this juice turned out and I really loved how it started to get faux cascades like a Guinness

So what’s the health verdict? Well from the previous Juiced Up Thursday we learned that kale is quite the super food, apples really do keep doctors away, and carrots are potent in vitamin A. Just to reiterate:

Kale: Super food that includes calcium, vitamin B6, magnesium, vitamin A, C and K. Good source of minerals like copper, potassium, iron, manganese, and phosphorus.

Carrots:Get to know a great source of vitamin A in the carrot. Vitamin A is a great healing agent. It cleanses and restores the liver

Apples: Helps with asthma, weight loss, lowering cholesterol, and diabetes management. More over it includes a ton of prevention to cancers like breast, lung and colon cancer.

Celery: Forget snapping into a slim jim, snap into celery! Celery contains many essential vitamins like Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6 and C. But also carries along with it some great minerals too like potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium and well its yum yum. It’s been contributed to lowering blood pressure, cholesterol and combating cancer.

Lemon: Well it is a citrus fruit so that means it bumps up the immune system with a high dose of vitamin C. But did you know that juicing lemons do more than just fight infections? Helps with acne and other skin problems. But wait there’s more: It helps with digestion, weight loss, fights gingivitis, fights urinary tract infections (it is a natural diuretic), and controls stress! Pucker up ladies and gentleman because lemon is a jack of all trades.
